With Less than 24 hours before the UFC on Fuel 6 weigh ins, David Mitchell no longer has an opponent. Hyun Gu Lim was supposed to fight Mitchell in Macau, China, but UFC doctors have determined that Gu Lim wasn?t healthy enough to fight. Mitchell was looking to get back in the cage after being out for 15 months, and he will now have to wait even longer. The UFC has also confirmed that Mitchell will be paid his show money and they will find him another fight.
According to MMAJunkie:
According to sources close to the fighter, UFC doctors nixed the bout. While an exact reason for the scratch wasn’t given, additional sources suggested complications during Lim’s weight cut were responsible for the move.
The fight card will now proceed with nine fights, and Mitchell will be paid his show money.
Mitchell likely was getting a final shot at a first UFC win. After opening his career with a perfect 11-0 mark, the former Tachi Palace Fights champ signed with the UFC and promptly suffered back-to-back octagon losses to T.J. Waldburger and Paulo Thiago, though his most recent appearance came back in August 2011.
