Anthony Johnson returning to the ring in November to fight DJ Linderman
The World Series of Fighting has inked yet another notable competitor to their debut card on November 3 in the form of Anthony Johnson, a former UFC welterweight/middleweight who has recently found his groove as a 205-pounder. Johnson will face Bellator veteran DJ Linderman at the organization?s November 3 event in Las Vegas.
Johnson joins the likes of Miguel Torres, Gesias Cavalcante, Bobby Lashley, and Andrei Arlovski on the card.
The bout was first reported by MMAJunkie.
?Rumble? is riding the momentum of a three-fight winning streak including strike-based stoppages in his last two tilts. The 13-4 Johnson has nine TKOs to his credit as well as past wins over the likes of Charlie Brenneman, Dan Hardy, and most recently Jake Rosholt.
Johnson Admits Move to Light Heavyweight Was Long Overdue
Linderman has also brought home three consecutive victories, improving his overall record to 14-3 in the process. Nine of his victories have involved some form of finish.

TweetForrest Griffin fined and suspended for Xanax use after loss to Anderson Silva
Forrest Griffin sent journalists scrambling yesterday when he said on a podcast he had tested positive for Xanax after his UFC 101 loss to pound-for-pound kingAnderson Silva. In addition to being a surprise considering Griffin’s popularity and the silence surrounding the situation prior to the former champion’s admission, it also left people wondering if he was actually punished for the infraction.
It turns out he was indeed, suffering both fine and short suspension as a result.
Griffin Explains Why He Kept Drug Test Hush-Hush
Greg Sirb, the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission, confirmed with MMAWeekly that Griffin did indeed test positive and all of the information was listed in the Association of Boxing Commissions’ database. Sirb said, ?On August 8 of 2009 he got a suspension, he had to take a re-test, he got a fine, everything was satisfied and it states specifically in the database ?must contact PA commission before next bout.??
According to Sirb, they had a very good reason for not announcing the suspension.
?It?s just how we list our drug tests. We have very strong HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) laws here just like the Nate Marquardt situation.? Sirb concluded, ?I can?t make these public declarations, but he was clearly in the database the day he was suspended.?
Sirb also said that Griffin met all requirements to satisfy the commissions protocols after they test positive in a drug test, allowing him to fight Tito Ortiz a couple of months after the suspension ended.

Chael Sonnen didn?t show at Anderson Silva?s barbecue
Remember how before Anderson Silva beat Chael Sonnen at UFC 148, Sonnen said he wanted Silva's wife to make him a steak, and then after the fight, Silva invited Sonnen to a a barbecue? Well, the barbecue happened, but Sonnen didn't show.
Silva says it wasn't just some hamburgers on the grill affair, but a true Brazilian gaucho barbecue. Sonnen now has his sights on UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, and he's forgotten all about his pal Andy.

Stephan Bonnar: ?If I'm not sleeping, I'm going to keep coming.?
UFC light heavyweight Stephan Bonnar knows what fans are expecting on October 13 when he faces Anderson Silva at UFC 153 ? his utter destruction. Bonnar is a massive underdog entering the bout despite having a weight advantage and a three-fight winning streak under his belt. Then again, when taking on the man many feel is the greatest Mixed Martial Artist in the history of the sport, neither of those factors means a whole lot once the cage door closes.
Bonnar recently spoke some about his strategy entering the headlining fight, acknowledging the likelihood of him getting lit up a few times inside the Octagon. However, unless his body quits on him, Bonnar expects to be pressing forward the entire time.
?If I could find a weakness or work him over on the ground, that’s great. But if I can’t and I’m forced to fight one of those blood-and-gut fights ? I know he’s really accurate with his strikes. I know that. I’m going to get hit. I just need to keep pushing forward. That’s what I do,? explained Bonnar in an interview with MMAJunkie.
“All I do know is when I get in there, I can’t help but fight my ass off. I can’t help but just give it everything I’ve got,? the fan-favorite continued. ?If I’m not sleeping, I’m going to keep coming. I know no other way.?
Bonnar Hoping Silva Breaks a Hand or Foot on His Head
The “American Psycho” has certainly lived up to his comments through his career. Bonnar, who holds a 15-7 record, has never been submitted or stopped by strikes, losing twice to injury-oriented TKOs and five more times by way of decision.

What happens when spinning backfists go wrong (VIDEO)
A spinning backfist is a stunning and thrilling way to knock out an opponent. It takes speed, balance and strength. To do it correctly, a fighter must have the ability to land the backfist perfectly while simultaneously preparing for his opponent's counterpunching. The most effective spinning backfists are done so quickly that an opponent has no time to prepare a defense.
None of that is on display in this video of Dillon Cleckler beating Matt Lawrence at Island Fights on Aug. 31.

Ronda Rousey confused by Cristiane Santos? attitude of self-entitlement
It?s not out of the question for a high-profile athlete to make demands when it comes to how his/her career is handled. However, typically said individual is considered to be at the top of his/her profession to provide some leverage in the negotiating process.
In the case of MMA?s Cristiane Santos, though ?Cyborg? is a former champion and an elite talent, she?s also serving a yearlong suspension for steroid use and has only fought a single time since June 2010. As such, bantamweight star Ronda Rousey is baffled by the Brazilian?s attempts to convince her to move up to 145 pounds rather than remain at 135 where she?s been dominant.
?I just don?t understand where her sense of entitlement is coming from. She hasn?t fought in like two years ? and won a fight that?s really counted,? explained Rousey in an interview with MMA Uncensored. ?If this happened to a man ? think about this ? if this was the men?s division, and it was someone who hadn?t recorded a win in two years, then had their title stripped from them because they were caught cheating, would you expect them to come back from their suspension and be like, ?I want the biggest title fight out there, the exact fight and all the considerations that I want. And if it?s not given to me, it?s because they?re running from me????
?I don?t see where she thinks she deserves to get every single thing that she wants when she?s pretty much been exposed as a fraud,? finished the unbeaten Rousey.
“Rowdy Ronda” Thinks Her Request is Reasonable
Rousey also stated she felt Santos had no legitimate options at featherweight and could only redeem herself as a fighter by slimming down to fight at bantamweight where the bulk of female talent seems to be at. Otherwise, in the opinion of Rousey, ?Cyborg? should simply call it a career and retire.
