Brendan Schaub pulled from UFC on FOX 5 lineup
It appears the UFC will not seek a replacement to fill the vacancy created this week when heavyweight Lavar Johnson was forced out of his UFC on FOX 5 fight with Brendan Schaub due to a pulled groin. While it initially appeared there could be some hope in terms of keeping Schaub on the show, [...]

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira?s weird Honda ad is begging for you to watch it (VIDEO)
UFC heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira starred in a Brazilian ad for Honda motorcycles that's about ... I'm not sure. You need to watch it.
Maybe it's about how the guy wants to be like Big Nog? Or how Big Nog eats pineapples in a way that ensures he'll never taste the fruit part of it? Or how to improperly take care of gloves? Part of the problem is that I don't speak Portuguese, but I bet if I was fluent it would still not make a ton of sense.
Nogueira has been doing more than film bizarre commercials. He is working on the next season of the Brazilian "Ultimate Fighter," coaching against Fabricio Werdum. He's slated to fight Werdum in June in Brazil.

MMA Marketplace: Battle of the UFC 154 walkout shirts
With UFC 154 just days away, it's time to break down the main event in the most important aspect: the walkout shirts. What shirts will Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit wear to the cage and try to sell to you? Let's take a look.
On the left is GSP's shirt by Affliction. You can get it in the black and red that is shown, or in navy and orange if you love the best professional football team in the NFL. On the right, you see Condit's by Headrush. It has swords and stuff.
If these shirts foretell of the kind of fight we're going to see, we're headed for a boring bout that will end in an unsatisfying draw. Buy GSP's here for $53.99, and Condit's here for $35.95.

Chael Sonnen reportedly at 240 pounds and shredded
One of the concerns about awarding Chael Sonnen a shot at UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones related to size disparity. Not only has Sonnen been competing at middleweight for the past few years but Jones, who stands three inches taller than his upcoming adversary, is one of the biggest 205-pounders on the UFC roster. Strikeforce returns with stacked card, includes Gilbert Melendez and Daniel Cormier
Strikeforce is back!
Well, they are with at least one show. When they canceled their second straight show in October, they promised a "stacked card." The idea was to make up for the two missed cards in September and November. Well, they have delivered.
MMA Junkie is reporting the fights are set for January 12 in Oklahoma City, where the ill-fated Nov. 3 event was supposed to happen. The line-up is:
-- Gilbert Melendez defending the lightweight belt against Pat Healy
-- Heavyweight grand prix winner Daniel Cormier taking on Dion Staring
-- Middleweight champ Luke Rockhold fighting Lorenz Larkin
-- Nate Marquardt's first defense of his welterweight belt against Tarec Saffiediene
Not bad, right? Every men's belt that has someone holding it will be defended. The big question is will this be Strikeforce's going away party, as they have struggled late in 2012. The promotion, owned by the same parent company as the UFC, would easily be folded into the UFC. However, they still have a contract with Showtime to provide fights. The promotion could still hang on.

Quinton ?Rampage? Jackson says UFC owes him for lost privacy
Despite a long, winning career with the UFC, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has had a rough relationship with the promotion recently. In an interview he did with Middle Easy (transcribed by Bloody Elbow) Jackson said the UFC hasn't compensated him well enough for his loss of privacy.
Leaving the UFC would make me happy. I don't think there's anything they can do to fix it. I don't think they're even willing to fix it. I'm not upset with them. The UFC is a great organization, they've done a lot of great, positive things for the sport. It's mainstream now. I can't walk anywhere without people wanting a picture or attention or talking or anything. That's good, that's what people like. I just feel like...honestly, I just wish I could be compensated a little bit more for the privacy that I gave up. People don't understand that. I traded my privacy and my kids' privacy for...the living that I'm making now which is...Football players and basketball players these days, they're making MILLIONS!
Now, what's odd about this statement is not that Jackson wants more money. Who doesn't want to be paid more for their job? But Jackson's popularity is not solely due to the UFC. He was a beloved fighter with Pride before fighting with the UFC. He has been in several movies. He starred in "The A-Team," a movie that made $177 million at the box office internationally. He does autograph signings, and has appeared on talk shows and on the WWE Raw show.

If privacy was the concern, Jackson could have kept a lower profile. He didn't. He chose to go into movies and fulfill its publicity requirements. He chose to sign on with sponsors who required he make appearances. He chooses to tweet pictures of him and his family. If privacy was his biggest concern, he could have just been a fighter.
His concerns are about money, and you know what? That's OK. A lot of people grumble about how much they are paid. It makes Jackson more like a regular guy. Just don't couch it in lost privacy.

Lyoto Machida shows off the greatest of all Movember moustaches
If you haven't heard by now, it's Movember, the month where men grow (sometimes ugly) moustaches to bring awareness to and raise money to fight prostate and testicular cancer. Lyoto Machida showed off his Movember moustache while sitting beside Anderson Silva at UFC 154, and it's a thing of beauty.
This pic was snapped while Machida was out for lunch on Sunday.
LOOK AT THAT. Cops and porn stars are completely jealous of Machida's moustache. Actually, all men should be jealous. That moustache is all that is right in the world. Joy, peace, bourbon -- they all exist because of that moustache. Thank you, Lyoto. Thank you for showing us the way of the 'stache.

Miguel Torres: ?It?s not a comeback, it?s a homecoming?
The past 11 months haven't been great for former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres. In December, he was cut from the UFC for making a tasteless joke on Twitter. He was brought back for an April bout with Michael McDonald, and was knocked out in the first round. He was then cut from the UFC again.
Now, he has landed with the World Series of Fighting, the new promotion that will debut on NBC Sports Network this Saturday.
He talks about how he's still in the process of refining his game, going from the crazy and wild fighter WEC fans knew to the controlled, planning fighter he is working to be now. He also says he doesn't see Saturday's bout against Marlon Moraes as a comeback, but a homecoming. When Torres was with the WEC, he fought on Versus, the channel that was turned into NBC Sports.
Though he may say it's not a comeback, this is the kind of opportunity that can help Torres get his career back on track. He's on television again and fighting away from the UFC or WEC for the first time since 2007. It's a shot to remind MMA fans of the kind of fighter he can be.
Will he do it? Speak up in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.
