Ohio and New Jersey revoke Strikeforce fighter?s license for falsifying application
Brandon Saling, the registered sexual offender fighter with a neo-Nazi tattoo who lost to Roger Bowling at Strikeforce on Saturday, had his license revoked in Ohio and New Jersey. According to the Ohio Athletic Commission, he falsified his application, answering "no" when asked if he had a criminal background.
Though having a background as a sex offender and championing the ideology of Adolf Hitler is reprehensible, it's not enough to necessarily keep someone from fighting. Lying, on the other hand, will get you bounced. Bernie Profato, the head of the OAC, talked to MMA Junkie about the matter:
"There's a dual thing there," Profato said. "He'll have to answer to the falsification, and two, if you read the law, it says they don't have to license you for a felony. Now, it will be whether they ever license him again because of being listed as a sexual predator."
Saling has two separate convictions: one of gross sexual imposition in 2004 and a domestic violence charge in 2008. He started fighting in 2008 and has a pro record of 8-6. He can appeal the OAC's decision at a hearing on April 11. UFC president Dana White commented that Saling might want to find another line of work.

UFC 144 comeback: Boetsch pulls off miracle against Okami; Shields gets by ?Sexyama?
With some guts, power and toughness, Tim Boetsch turned a trip back down the middleweight ladder into an opportunity to legitimately call out top-five fighters at 185 pounds.
After getting schooled for two rounds in every aspect of the game, Boetsch landed some huge shots to finish Yushin Okami at the 0:54 mark of the third round at UFC 144 in Tokyo, Japan.
[Video: Boetsch outduels Okami with power and guts]
Boetsch got picked apart in the first by Okami's boxing. The Japanese veteran then turned to his vaunted ground-and-pound game in the second. Okami outlanded Boetsch 47-26 over the first two rounds. With Boetsch down 2-0 and his face busted up, the American had to go for broke.
He came out looking for the home run shot landing some effective kicks early before grabbing Okami's head and blasting him with an uppercut. Okami stumbled backward and took a deep breath, but Boetsch didn't allow him to collect himself. He followed Okami around the cage and landed another good combination. The completely stunned Okami was out on his feet. That's when Boetsch grabbed his head again and dug in deep to land three more uppercuts. Okami went down in a heap after the third and referee Leon Roberts had to jump in to save him.
"It still hasn't settled in yet. The first two rounds weren't good, but I won the third round and that's what counts. Yushin hit me harder than I expected, but I was standing at the end of his range so it was kind of my fault. I knew I had to move forward, but the upper cuts were a spur of the moment thing. Awesome night overall," said Boetsch.
After racing out to a 10-2 start with the UFC, Okami has now dropped two straight. Boetsch (15-4, 4-1 UFC) is a perfect 3-0 at middleweight.
Shields wins favor with the judges
There's no mistaking what Jake Shields wants to do. A jiu-jitsu ace, he efforts to get his opponent to the ground. He couldn't accomplish that against Yoshihiro Akiyama, so turned to Plan B and got the victory.
Shields (27-6-1, 2-2 UFC) landed lots of short strikes and many leg kicks to earn the nod from the judges, 30-27 on all three cards. He sealed the fight down the stretch by scoring three takedowns late. He also got Sexyama's back and threatened with a choke in the final 30 seconds.
Some onlookers thought Akiyama (13-5, 1-4 UFC) did enough to win. His volume wasn't high enough on the the feet, but he did score three awesome judo throws/trips. He was also successful in defending 9-of-11 takedowns. Unfortunately, that just doesn't score enough with judges. According to Compustrike, Shields outlanded Akiyama 120-58.
[Video: Late takedowns propel Shields over Akiyama]
This was Akiyama's debut at 170 pounds. The move paid off. He was certainly competitive with one of the top welterweights in the worlds. He looked strong at the weight and unlike his previous fights at middleweight, his energy remained pretty constant into the late stages of the fight.

Watch Georges St. Pierre get beaten by Japanese children in the cutest video ever produced
UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre headed to Japan for UFC 144. He visited a school for young kids and was promptly beaten by children wielding swords.
Seriously, watch the first two and a half minutes of this video. Your day will improve. Watch as GSP beams while the children warm up, then see him not keep up as they run through exercises with plastic swords. Finally, see how they suddenly turn on him and beat GSP over the head until he submits to strikes.
After he talks about how he would have rather played with swords as a kid than with a hockey stick, they show a visit to the mayor of Saitama, Japan, and a visit to a dojo where kids aged around seven beat each other up. But if you can't watch the whole six minutes, at least press play for the first two and half.

You tell us: Who should Benson Henderson fight next?
Not long after Benson Henderson had the UFC lightweight belt fastened around his waist, questions arose about who he would fight next. UFC commentator Joe Rogan said at the end of the UFC 144 broadcast it would be Anthony Pettis. Frankie Edgar, who just lost his belt in a close fight, said he should get it. Nate Diaz and Jim Miller are fighting in May and the winner of that bout also has legitimate claim to a title shot. Who would you give it to?
Anthony Pettis: He is one of just two men to have beaten Henderson. Their WEC 53 bout, the last bout the WEC ever produced, was close until Pettis pulled out the "Showtime kick." There's no doubt they would produce another exciting bout.
On the other hand, does a split decision over Jeremy Stephens and a knockout of Joe Lauzon qualify you for a title shot? That's all Pettis has done since losing to Clay Guida, who lost to Henderson.
Frankie Edgar: Not only was his loss to Henderson a close decision even refuted by UFC president Dana White, but Edgar had to give immediate rematches twice while champ. Why shouldn't Henderson do the same?
On the other hand, it would tie up the belt with the same two fighters vying for it. Again. Ben Fowlkes from MMA Fighting pointed out that while not granting an immediate rematch to Edgar would be unfair to him, it would be extra fair to everyone else. Do you want to see Edgar in another rematch, or do you want to see someone else get a shot?
Winner of Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller: On May 5, the two will square off on the UFC's next Fox card. With both fighters floating near the top of the lightweight division, this bout has title eliminator written all over it.
On the other hand, Miller lost to Henderson in August. For Diaz, a win would give him his third straight, but his resume isn't more impressive than the other top lightweights.
Time for you to play matchmaker. Who would you give the next lightweight title shot to? Tell us in the comments, on Twitter or on Facebook.

Frankie Edgar thinks he should get the next lightweight title shot
On Saturday, Frankie Edgar lost his UFC lightweight title to Benson Henderson, and he wants it back. He doesn't want to drop down to featherweight to face Jose Aldo. He wants to stay exactly where he is, and face Henderson again.
He talked about it on The MMA Hour:
"I'm saying it, and I'm saying it loud: I want my rematch," he said. "I'm not going to have these antics or play these games. I'm telling you what I want. This is what I want. I think it's fair. I think the fans want to see it. It was fight of the night. Listen, even if these guys want to see me get beat up, I do get beat up in a lot of my fights, even in the fights I win, so it's win-win for everybody."
Edgar makes a good point. He had to go through two immediate rematches during his championship reign, so it would only be fair for the UFC to extend the same courtesy to him. However, he has been in the UFC for five years. That's long enough to know fairness is not a quality that is taken into account when Zuffa is deciding title shots.

Was it fair Brock Lesnar got a chance at Randy Couture's title after three professional fights? Was it fair Lyoto Machida had a chance to fight Jon Jones in December even though Rashad Evans had earned the No. 1 contender shot, and the UFC would have had to wait a scant six weeks for him to be ready? Is it fair Ronda Rousey and her four fights at a higher weight class got a shot at Miesha Tate before Sarah Kaufman, who has beaten Tate?
Edgar is 100 percent right. He has a reasonable claim at an immediate rematch. But if he's hoping for fairness to come into play, he hasn't paid attention to recent history.
