Randy Couture will coach on Bellator reality series

Randy Couture is a member of the UFC Hall of Fame. He fought in the Octagon 23 times, and held the heavyweight and light heavyweight UFC belts. But according to a report from Sports Illustrated, his next move will be with Bellator.

Couture has reportedly signed on to do multiple projects with Viacom, the media conglomerate that has a major stake in Bellator and owns Spike TV, Bellator's TV partner. Couture's first project will be to coach on an upcoming MMA reality TV series.

This won't be Couture's first time in that role. Along with Chuck Liddell, Couture was a coach on the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter." That show helped catapult the UFC to the level it is on today.

Bellator is smartly banking on Couture's popularity as a fighter and an actor to help grow their promotion.

Fighter turns Gumby after he gets knocked out

(Updated with quotes from Reuter via telephone at 6:38 p.m. ET on Feb. 8, 2013)

Collin Reuter's knockout of Gerald Fike on Feb. 1 in Fairbanks, Alaska, wasn't nearly as violent as the one Uriah Hall scored on Adam Cella on Episode 3 of "The Ultimate Fighter." The Hall knockout was promoted heavily for more than a week by the UFC and FX and was definitely worth the hype.

Reuter's knockout was pretty run of the mill, particularly compared to Hall's. But Fike's fall, in which he lands on his head, may go down as the most unique fall ever after a KO.

Early in the first round, Reuter caught Fike on the head with a right hand during a bout on the Solid As A Rock Fighting Championship card. That was enough to end the bout at just 26 seconds nd get the crowd into it.

It wasn't the punch, though, that was so memorable. Instead, it was Fike's reaction. He fell backward after taking the shot. As he did, he arched his back. He thus hit the canvas first with his head. His feet were firmly on the ground, but his legs, butt and back were off the mat.

Fike looked like he was doing some sort of gymnastics routine but, sadly for him, he was out cold, just like Cella was after Hall caught him in the face with a spinning back kick.

Reuter told Cagewriter via Twitter that Fike was unhurt.

"I spoke with him a few days ago and he said he was perfectly fine," Reuter wrote.

Fike couldn't be reached for comment. We can only assume he was massaging his neck.

Reuter (@CollinReuter) is a single father who used to train with Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, Calif. He drew with Reuter in 2010 in a fight he said he took on short notice.

He said he knew when he landed the punch that Fike probably wasn't going to get up. He struggled with how to react after the punch landed just below the nose.

"It was kind of a mixed reaction from me," Reuter said. "I was really happy and smiling, because that was a big win for me, but I was definitely concerned for [Fike]. I didn't want to be celebrating too much with that going on."

Reuter said Fike was down for about two minutes before he was able to sit back up on the stool.

IOC Cuts Wrestling from 2020 Olympic Games, Sends Shockwave Through Wrestling Community

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) levied a shocking decision today as they opted to remove wrestling from the list of 25 core sports. The decision was a huge surprise, as most believed the modern pentathlon would be the sport on the chopping block. In cutting wrestling, the IOC removes a sport that has been a part of the games since their modern inception at the 1896 Olmpyics.

UFC on Fox 6 results: Demetrious Johnson retains title, ?Rampage? loses in Octagon finale

CHICAGO -- The UFC's stop in the Windy City had two great knockouts, a champion holding onto his belt, and the last fight of a one-time champ.

Despite a strong start by John Dodson, Demetrious Johnson held onto his championship belt with a unanimous decision. The judges saw it 48-47, 49-46, 48-47 for Johnson.

Unsurprisingly, Johnson and Dodson fought a fast-paced first two rounds. Johnson tried to slow things down in the first round with a takedown. While he did get Dodson to to the ground, the challenger popped back to his feet quickly.

Dodson dropped Johnson twice in the second round, and shook off Johnson's take down attempts with a great sprawl. Johnson seemed to have a hard time even getting close to Dodson to land a punch.

[Related: T.J. Grant and Ryan Bader shine at UFC on Fox 6]

A Johnson knee in the fourth round caused a small fight stoppage. Dodson's hand was on the ground as Johnson threw a knee to Dodson's head, which is an illegal strike. The bout was stopped as doctors checked Dodson's eye and Johnson was warned. The fight went on, but not without plenty of boos from the crowd in Chicago.

When the fight restarted, it was all Johnson. He controlled Dodson against the cage, and threw knees that busted up Dodson's face. Johnson was able to get a takedown at the beginning of the fifth round, too. Though boos rained down, Johnson kept the fight against the cage.

Later, the crowd got behind him as Johnson elevated, tightened his legs around Dodson's torso and threw elbows. It was a creative move that likely could only happen in the flyweight division. Johnson finished the round with Dodson against the cage, and knee after knee after knee to the body and face.

Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson vs. Glover Teixeira

If this really was Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's last fight in the UFC, it wasn't one to remember. He was outstruck and outwrestled by Glover Teixeira throughout their bout. Teixeira took the fight 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 on the judges' cards.

Teixeira's first round was his best, as he was able to take Jackson down early and mount him and take his back. Late in the round, Teixeira knocked Jackson down with a punch and looked close to finishing, but wasn't able to end the fight.

The rest of the fight featured a worn out Jackson trying to avoid Teixeira's takedown attempts unsuccessfully. Jackson threw some big punches, and even jawed at Teixeira during the bout, but he wasn't able to score any big offense.

While this fight will be remembered for being Jackson's last UFC bout, Teixeira scored his third straight UFC win on Saturday night. He looked impressive against the former champ.

Anthony Pettis vs. Donald Cerrone

Anthony Pettis won his much anticipated bout with Donald Cerrone by landing big, memorable strikes. Pettis was getting the better of their striking exchanges early, which set him up for a big finish. Pettis threw a kick that landed hard on Cerrone's body, then finished with a punch. Cerrone fell to the ground in a heap, and the fight was stopped at 2:35 in the first round.

Pettis lost his first fight in the UFC after coming from the WEC as the champ, but he's been winning ever since. He has wins over Joe Lauzon, Jeremy Stephens and now Cerrone. After the fight, he made a pitch to UFC president Dana White.

"I want my title shot. I should have had it years ago. People say I can?t wrestle because of the Guida fight, but I had a serious shoulder injury. Now I am 100 percent. No one can do in the Octagon what I can do."

While lightweight champion Benson Henderson has a fight set up with Gilbert Melendez, a shot for Pettis isn't unwarranted. It would be a rematch of their WEC title fight, which Pettis won in the promotion's final fight.

Ricardo Lamas vs. Erik Koch

Lamas won the first round by constantly pressuring Koch against the cage. It wasn't exactly the most thrilling round to have start a card on network television, but it led to a thrilling second round. Lamas took advantage of Koch's slip, and then finished the fight with nasty, nasty ground and pound. Lamas started with elbows, then started with strikes that cut open Koch's face. Koch had no answer for Lamas' relentless strikes, and the bout was stopped at 2:32 in the second round.

Lamas thought his performance warranted a title shot.

"I?ve beat Cub Swanson, I?ve beat Hioki and now I?ve beat Koch. All those guys were supposed to be fighting for the title at one point. I beat them all. We?re all here to be world champ and I am no different. I want the winner of Aldo vs Edgar next week. I don?t care who wins, I want the winner."

UFC making changes to drug-testing, but will it be enough?

The UFC encourages exciting fights by giving out fight-night bonuses. On each card, fighters can earn an extra $40-100K if they win Fight of the Night, Knockout of the Night, and Submission of the Night. The extra cash can make a huge difference in a fighter's finances. But according to a report by MMA Junkie, the UFC is changing the way the bonuses will be handed out.

Starting with Saturday night's fights, the checks for bonuses won't be handed out until drug tests come back. Also, every fighter on an international card will be drug tested. In the U.S., testing is handled by the state commission where the fights are held. International fights are regulated by the UFC.

Recently, Joey Beltran and Rousimar Palhares were suspended nine months for failing a drug test the UFC gave in Australia. An independent lab handles the actual testing.

UFC heavyweight Cheick Kongo has been outspoken on his Twitter account about how he wants to see UFC president Dana White take bigger steps to clean up the sport:

Tying bonuses to testing and suspensions are a good start, but out-of-competition testing is the best option. The UFC has yet to implement testing beyond competition. State commissions sometimes require it for licensing. Nevada did random testing with Alistair Overeem before giving him a license, but it's the exception. Fighters need to have no idea when the test is coming.

What more should the UFC do to ensure a clean sport? Speak up in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Michael Bisping?s title shot hopes evaporate as Vitor Belfort wins UFC on FX main event by TKO

Michael Bisping needed a win at UFC on FX 7 in Sao Paolo, Brazil, on Saturday night to keep his title shot hopes alive. But Vitor Belfort got the better of him, winning with a second round TKO.

Belfort ended the first round well, wobbling Bisping with a head kick followed by aggressive punches and knees. The round ended before Belfort could put Bisping in real danger, but it was a sign of things to come.

In the second round, Belfort landed another head kick, but this one sent Bisping to the ground. Belfort followed with several strikes on the ground until the fight was stopped at 1:27 in the second round.

Bisping, who got into a heated exchange with Belfort during a pre-fight press conference, was humble in defeat.

"It was a beautiful kick. He caught me. He was better than me tonight," he said after the fight.

Bisping was hoping for a big win so that he could get a chance at Anderson Silva and the UFC middleweight belt. In his Yahoo! Sports pre-fight blog, Bisping said his motivation for wanting to fight Belfort was simple.

"He?s trying to take my title shot off me. He?s trying to take my family?s security off me," Bisping wrote.

But now it's unlikely he'll get near a title shot any time soon. Bisping is 1-2 in his last three fights. Though he's been in the UFC since 2006, this fight was his best chance of earning a shot at the title.

[Related: UFC on FX 7 bonuses: Belfort wins Knockout of the Night]

Belfort fought for the middleweight title in 2011 and light heavyweight title in 2012. He lost both times, but didn't hesitate to ask for a title shot in his post-fight interview.

"I want that belt. Get that punk Chael Sonnen out. Let me fight Jon Jones! Not that clown!"

Sonnen, who has fought at light heavyweight in the UFC since 2005, is fighting for the UFC light heavyweight belt against champion Jones in April.

Dolloway, Gonzaga, Nurmagomedov notch wins

C.B. Dolloway took a thrilling win in the co-main event over Daniel Sarafian, who was making his UFC debut. The judges saw it 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 for Dolloway, who came back to win the fight after not having a great start. Sarafian easily took the first round. He slowed Dolloway down early in the round, and got the better of exchanges throughout.

Sarafian owned the second round with big punches, but almost lost late in the round. Dolloway hit Sarafian with an uppercut, and then swarmed with several more strikes on the ground. The horn to sound the end of the round saved Sarafian from a stoppage that looked seconds away.

[Also: Bellator's debut on Spike TV ends up a mixed bag ratings-wise]

Dolloway started out the third round well with takedowns and much better positioning, but Sarafian swept to get on late. Sarafian took Dolloway's back, but couldn't get in a rear naked choke. Then Dolloway reversed position as the fight ended. His record moves to 13-4.

Gabriel Gonzaga's condition deep into a fight is often a problem, but he didn't have to worry about it with a second-round submission win over Ben Rothwell. After outstriking and outwrestling Rothwell in the first, Gonzaga grabbed an arm-in guillotine from the standing position. To get more leverage, Gonzaga jumped guard. He cinched Rothwell with his legs and tightened the guillotine. Rothwell tapped at 1:01 in the second round.

This is the second straight win for Gonzaga since returning to the UFC. Both have come by submission.

Khabib Nurmagomedov started the main card off with a quick and exciting win over Thiago Tavares. Nurmagomedov dropped Tavares with an uppercut, and then finished with several elbows. The fight was stopped at 1:55 in the first round, though not quickly enough for UFC president Dana White, who tweeted, "Ok that is officially the END of Dan M!!!! Guys head is straight up his [expletive] 2 night!!!! 17 vicious strikes!!!! After he was already hurt"

With this win, Nurmagomedov has three straight wins in the UFC, and an overall record of 19-0.

Ronda Rousey does a pretty good ?Honey Boo-Boo? impression (VIDEO)

Even if you don't watch the TLC show "Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo," you've probably seen some highlights of Alana, the pageant princess turned into television sensation, and her family. It turns out that UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey does a pretty good impression of Honey Boo-Boo.

Rousey even gets in a dig at "Cyborg" in the end, most likely referring to Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos, not her husband Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos. (Too many Cyborgs.) Rousey has called out Cyborg in the past, but the former Strikeforce featherweight champion has maintained that she can't cut down to bantamweight.

Before Rousey can worry about who she'll fight next, she has to face Liz Carmouche at UFC 157 for the ultimate grand supreme bantamweight title.
