[VIDEO] Former UFC fighter Keith Jardine stops thief after car chase

Of all the mailboxes in all the towns, a dumb mail thief had to choose former UFC light heavyweight Keith Jardine's to try and rob last Friday.

New Mexico television station KRQE reported Friday that Jardine spotted the thief pulling up in his car at the fighter's Albuquerque home, get out, open his mail box and take off with the contents in his car. Jardine then jumped into his own vehicle and gave chase.

Jardine caught up with the thief, confronted him and subdued him until police arrived on the scene and arrested him. The man, 39 year-old Richard Davenport said that he had been picking up mail for a friend but police discovered that the backseat of his car was filled with mail from a number of different homes.

Check out video of Jardine recounting the incident above.

Dana White says Brock Lesnar return to UFC possible

In a media scrum Wednesday after UFC Fight Night 35, UFC president Dana White spoke about the chances retired former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar could one day come back to MMA and the promotion. The former NCAA Division I wrestling national champ and current WWE star still has contact with the UFC, according to White.

"He has some regrets," White said.

"Would he like to fight again? I'm sure he would. We'll see how this whole thing plays out. It's definitely a possibility."

White says that Lesnar feels he could have done even better in his UFC career if it weren't for having the life-threatening condition diverticulitis throughout it.

"Me and Brock talk," he said.

"I said recently Brock feels like, he said he has some regrets with MMA because he wasn't healthy. He was going through those stomach problems the whole time he was here. So he has regrets.

"It's interesting. He became champion with diverticulitis. What would he have done without it? From the first day he fought in the UFC until his last fight he was suffering from it. He never felt right. He just didn't know why and then it really hit him. He feels like he was fighting here at 40 percent."

Lesnar won the UFC heavyweight championship by stopping Randy Couture in 2008 in what was just his fourth professional fight. Overall, Lesnar was 5-3 and ended his career with two consecutive losses to Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem after surgeries to address his diverticulitis.

"He thinks a Brock Lesnar that was 100 percent could have done much better," White went on.

"I told him, 'you're out of your [expletive] mind. You came in here with one fight and became the heavyweight champion.' It was fun having Brock here."

Would you ever want to see Lesnar back in the Octagon or should he stick to pro-wrestling? Let us know in the comments section.

Keith Kizer resigns as NSAC chief

Keith Kizer, Nevada's state athletic commission executive director, handed in his resignation Friday. Kizer has held the position since 2006 and will remain in Nevada state government as a deputy attorney general focused on administrative law, according to a report from FoxSports' Mike Chiappetta.

?This is just a good time for me to move on,? Kizer told Chiappetta.

?It?s a new calendar year, there?s a new chairman, and we?re really slow. We have no fights this month, so it?s a good time for making a transition. Everything?s all set for the big fights in the spring, so if there?s a time to leave, this is the time.?

Kizer also said that he had initially only planned to hold the position for five years when he took over for former director Marc Ratner. Nevada's state athletic commission is the most influential sporting regulatory body of its kind in the world and sets the tone for how things are done everywhere else in regards to boxing and mixed martial arts competition, in addition to other sports.

Kizer himself was heavily involved in the creation and establishment of unified rules for MMA, even before he took over as executive director of the commission. when he was an attorney for the state.Nevada will likely choose an interim director for the commission while beginning a search for a permanent replacement for Kizer.

For his part, Kizer is confident the Nevada commission will carry on and continue to host the world's biggest bouts. ?It?s a cool job,? he said.

?I can?t imagine this type of job won?t attract some qualified candidates and probably some unqualified candidates, as well. I?ve done my time as a sports guy, and now I get to go back to being a lawyer. They?ll be just fine without me.?
