It was just two weeks ago that Muhammed Lawal was calling Quinton Jackson washed up and a B-level actor.
Jackson didn't say too much since, but he did sit down for an interview yesterday which happened to be perfectly timed with the news released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that "King Mo" tested positive for an anabolic steroid following his Strikeforce fight.
"I feel that any fighter who has to use steroids to go in the cage and fight somebody is not a true fighter somebody just blatantly taking anabolical steroids to get in the cage is a sad case," said Jackson.
Jackson said Lawal's recent woes are to be expected.
"He talk a big game and calling people bums, it's just karma. Look at him. He's a very cocky individual," said Jackson.
Lawal tested positive for Drostanolone, but denied using any illegal substances.
Jackson shows a good sense of humor later in the interview over the fact that King Mo was mocking on his role in the "A-Team."

Despite being a devastating knockout artist in the cage, Junior dos Santos is a smiling, affable man outside of it. He, UFC lightweight Gray Maynard and Octagon Girl Arianny Celeste stopped by a surfing school in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as part of the run up to UFC 142 this weekend. They met with the students and even tried surfing.
If you're wondering what it looks like when a heavyweight champion surfs, here you go:
And yes, if the champ makes it to his feet on dry land, he will get applause. That's just how it goes. He gets extra credit for pulling off the Ron Santo-esque heel click.
This is a nice behind-the-scenes video blog following Rashad Evans. As always Evans drops some awesome lines. He talks about being a heel and that he wouldn't want it any other way (5:35 mark). Watch the end, the delivery is dynamite.
Evans faces Phil Davis in the main event of Saturday's UFC on Fox 2 card in Chicago.

Melvin Guillard doesn't want to go the way of George Sotiropoulos, Anthony Pettis and Evan Dunham.
Last year was a horror show for those guys. On the verge of getting a title shot, all three suffered a loss or two that sent that sent them tumbling down the lightweight ladder.
Guillard faces Jim Miller tomorrow night on FX (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT), with both fighters facing the same fate if they lose - at least another year before they sniff a title shot.
Guillard (29-9-2, 10-5 UFC) was hot as a pistol before UFC 136 in October, but lost his shot at Frank Edgar with a 47 second submission loss at the hands of Joe Lauzon. He knows this Miller fight is make or break time.
"It was kinda dumb, but I am young enough to learn as long as realize the mistake. I made the mistake, it didn't just happen," Guilard said referencing the loss to Lauzon. "I know that but I also know I'm still one of the best fighters in the division. But I am ready for this fight with Miller. He's a top guy, maybe the No. 3 or No. 4 in the division, and if I perform like I can do, I think it will be hard for people to say that I didn't deserve a UFC title shot."
Guillard is managing the delicate balance between fighter under control, but not losing his explosiveness
"It's not going to affect my style of fight, just so you guys know. I'm still going to go in and be the fast, explosive kid that I am. But right now, I just want to stay focused and grounded," said Guillard.
Miller is no easy prey and he enters the fight with the same motivation. He's coming off a rough loss to Ben Henderson. Miller (20-3, 9-2 UFC) fought with a flawed strategy and got lit up by Henderson, who locked up a title shot with the victory.

Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champ "King" Mo Lawal likely won't appeal a positive steroid test following his win over Lorenz Larkin at a Strikeforce event in Las Vegas earlier this month, the fighter and his manager, Mike Kogan, told Ariel Helwani on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour. Neither will they admit that Lawal knowingly or willfully ingested the steroid Drostanolone, however.

Erick Silva rode a roller coaster of emotions at UFC 142. After taking out Carlo Prater in 29 seconds, Silva celebrated with the loud, Brazilian crowd. He was brought down to reality when he was informed by referee Mario Yamasaki that the blows Silva used to knock out Prater were deemed illegal. Though a replay showed that the blows hit the sides of Prater's head, not the restricted area on the the back of the head, Silva had been disqualified.
The UFC confirmed that Silva did receive his win bonus and it's unlikely that this loss will stunt his career's trajectory, but it didn't need to be a loss. Yamasaki admitted when talking to UFC commentator Joe Rogan that he had to make the decision in the moment.
"I have to decide right there and then. There's nothing I can do," Yamasaki said.
In that moment, there was nothing Yamasaki could do. Instant replay does not have a place in MMA. Though he watched the replay on a giant screen just moments after the fight ended, the bout was decided.
With the technology already in place for referees to use instant replay, there is no good reason for MMA not to use it. Instant replay is used in other major sports. Though it isn't always perfect, it gives referees confidence on making calls.
Like in other sports, strict parameters of when it should be used would need to be put in place. For example, it does not make sense to use instant replay to decide if a fighter was truly knocked out or not because of the difficulties in restarting a stopped bout. But in the case of a disqualification, instant replay can and should be used.

Charlie Brenneman and Khabib Nurmagomedov walked away from UFC on FX 1 winners. Brenneman took a decision, while Nurmagomedov had an impressive, late submission.
Brenneman grapples his way to a win
Charlie Brenneman took the win over Daniel Roberts with a 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 decision.
Roberts started the first round strong with a bevy of punches, and Brenneman responded with a takedown. Roberts grabbed a guillotine, but wasn't in a good position to finish him off. Brenneman popped his head out, and controlled Roberts. He moved into side control and maneuvered Roberts into a crucifix hold, landing several punches to Roberts' head along the way. Several appeared to hit the back of Roberts' head, but referee Herb Dean did not see the illegal strikes.
The second round started with another Brenneman takedown. Again, Brenneman worked Roberts into a crucifix. This time, he landed more strikes to Roberts' face. Roberts worked his way out from the crucifix, but Brenneman remained in control until they were stood up with 1:30. In the final minute, Brenneman tried for another takedown, and Roberts used the opportunity to lock Brenneman into a triangle choke with seconds left in the round. Though a submission appeared close, Brenneman was saved by the round ending.
The third verse was the same as the first: Brenneman took Roberts down and moved Roberts into side control. Again, Brenneman landed several strikes, but didn't do much damage to Roberts' face. Roberts hit another last-minute submission. This time, it was a Kimura. Again, Brenneman was saved by the end of the round.
Nurmagomedov wins debut
Khabib Nurmagomedov won his UFC debut with a third round rear naked choke of Kamal Shalorus.
Shalorus stalked Nurmagomedov down in the first round. Shalorus wobbled Nurmagomedov, but it was Nurmagomedov's counter that changed the tenor of the fight. His uppercut knocked Shalorus to the ground. Though Shalorus was able to avoid the knockout, Nurmagomedov controlled Shalorus on the ground. At the 45-second mark, Shalorus got back to his feet and swung wildly at Nurmagomedov. Somehow, the two made it to the end of the round.
In the second, Nurmagomedov caught Shalorus' head when he shot in for a takedown. Nurmagomedov ended on top. They were stood up for a lack of activity around the three-minute mark, and Nurmagomedov got another takedown. Again, they were stood up. Nurmagomedov showed strong striking just before the horn sounded to end the round.
Nurmagomedov again took down Shalorus in the third round. Shalorus tried for a guillotine, but couldn't hold on. When Shalorus lost the submission attempt, Nurmagomedov had full mount. Shalorus flipped over, but gave up his neck. Nurmagomedov grabbed a rear naked choke, causing Shalorus to tap at

It may not be widely recognized as the deepest division in the world, but the bantamweights are starting to carve out quite a reputation in the UFC.
Mike Easton and Jared Papazian added to the cause by putting in some awesome work tonight on the UFC on FX 1 card in Nashville.
At the end of the fight, both fighters were still standing after throwing over 400 strikes at each other. Easton got the nod via majority decision, 30-27, 29-29 and 29-28, in a crowd-pleasing brawl that got better as the fight went along.
"He's a tough dude. He was the champ back in the division where he was at," Easton told UFC play-by-play voice Jon Anik. "All we wanted to do was please the fans and we rapped. We the 35ers baby! Nothing but non-stop action. We love to fight."
Papazian (14-7, 0-1 UFC) making his UFC debut, was a huge underdog at plus-275, but he didn't look intimidated whatsoever. Easton (12-1) is now 2-0 with the UFC.
Easton generally takes a while to get going, but when he did tonight it made for an awesome final round. With the fight on the line, Easton fired up the pace and Papazian, 23, stood in front him willing to bang. The fighters combined to wing 213 shots at each other over the final five minutes.
Remember that Jose Aldo victory celebration we wrote about? The UFC released video of one of the cooler non-fight moments to ever happen in the UFC. It will make you smile on this post-holiday weekend Tuesday.
The best part is that despite the crowd jumping running and jumping to get a piece of Aldo, the celebration was peaceful. The Brazilians wanted to embrace their champion, but didn't kick each other in the face to do it.
