UFC veteran Drew McFedries was stabbed over the weekend. He was released from the hospital after being stabbed in the side while working security at the Chorus Line, a gentlemen's club in Davenport, Iowa. Stabbing the security guard isn't very gentlemanly, but it is what Calvin Hammock allegedly did.
According to the Quad City Times, Hammock is charged with going armed with intent and willful injury causing bodily injury. Hammock allegedly left the Chorus Line, but was stopped by McFedries from coming back in. They got into a tussle, and that's when Hammock allegedly stabbed McFedries.
The good news is that McFedries is expected to fully recover. He hasn't fought since 2011, when he beat Garrett Olson in Pro Elite. His last UFC fight was a loss to Tomasz Drwal at UFC 103.

Stepping into the Octagon to do battle with an adrenaline-fueled MMA heavyweight is one thing. Stepping onto a movie set to do (simulated) battle with Jean-Claude Van Damme is another thing entirely. Straddling both worlds is Andrei Arlovski, the former UFC Heavyweight champ whose menacing stature and fighting pedigree made him practically a shoo-in for…

Though it may not be official yet, it looks like MMA fans have a solid heavyweight scrap to look forward to in February after hard-hitting Frenchman Cheick Kongo went on Twitter and called Stefan Struve out. Better yet, Struve responded back in kind, accepting the potential bout and expressing genuine excitement about it eventually unfolding.…

Josh Koscheck's last fight was a loss in May to Johny Hendricks. An injury knocked him off UFC 151 before it was canceled. Now that he is healthy again, he is looking for an opponent. Luckily, Nick Diaz's camp made it easy for Koscheck to come up with someone.
Cesar is calling 4 me the fight Diaz in Feb. Super Bowl weekend! What you guy think? I am DOWN! Don't be scared Homie! #559 lol

UFC president Dana White said that when Diaz comes off suspension, he will need to win a fight before getting a chance at the belt. Diaz lost a tight decision to Carlos Condit for the interim welterweight belt, then was later suspended when his drug test was found positive for marijuana metabolites.
The suspension means a Super Bowl weekend fight is unlikely. Diaz's suspension ends on Feb. 3, the day after the Feb. 2 date of the event that is normally a huge event for the UFC. But even if it's not that weekend, this is an intriguing fight. The amount of trash talking alone will make it fun, as will watching Diaz try to handle Koscheck's wrestling skill.

In 2006, Georges St-Pierre won the UFC welterweight championship, then quickly lost it to Matt Serra. Getting the belt back became an obsession for GSP. He talks about that obsession, and talks through the rematch with Serra here.
By the time he steps into the cage to fight Carlos Condit on Saturday at UFC 154, 1,673 days will have passed since he beat Serra. He beat Jon Fitch, B.J. Penn, Thiago Alves, Dan Hardy, Josh Koscheck and Jake Shields to hold onto the shiny piece of metal and leather. Save the win over Penn, GSP didn't finish any of those fights. Still, he's dominated his division for four years. Will that domination continue this weekend? Speak up in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Bellator 79 was exactly what the promotion needed in terms of ratings. After Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera beat Brendan Schaub at UFC 134, Nogueira's friends and training partners broke out in a jubilant celebration. At UFC 153, he took out Dave Herman, and his friends reacted even more emotionally.
Man, it's getting a little dusty in here. (Wipes tears from eyes.) UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva begins to cry when seeing his friend's triumph. This was Nogueira's first fight since having his arm broken by Frank Mir in December, so you could see why it was so meaningful for Silva and the rest of the group.
After watching Nogueira's win, Silva went on to win easily over Stephan Bonnar. Then, he went to the hospital and took care of Fabio Maldonado, the fighter who somehow survived two rounds with Glover Teixeira.
Is there anything Silva can't do?

Shamar Bailey was a part of the thirteenth season of "The Ultimate Fighter," fought twice in the Octagon, and also fought for Strikeforce and Bellator. While he's still fighting, he also works as a firefighter in Indianapolis and was injured Monday when working on a fire that was the work of an arsonist.
Bailey talked about the fire to Bloody Elbow, and said his injuries were routine.
We had a big fire yesterday involving a three story house. It flashed over on us while we were cutting holes in the roof. While we were cutting the holes, there was an explosion. The fire and smoke heated up to a release point and exploded in our faces. Fortunately, we had our masks on, but I did get some exposure in my chest area and on my wrists, and that's where I'm burnt. We went ahead with business and put the fire out, and I actually didn't realize until afterwards that I had been burned.
The house was considered a total loss, and the Indianapolis Fire Department is investigating the arson. Bailey has a fight scheduled against Gideon Ray in December, and doesn't think the second-degree burns he sustained will keep him from fighting.
Bailey isn't the only fighter who moonlights as a firefighter. Retired UFC fighter Chris Lytle worked as a firefighter in Indianapolis throughout his long MMA career, and Eddie Wineland works as a firefighter, as well.
In the build up to the UFC 154 main event, Carlos Condit told media ?If you?re looking for a fight that will put the hairs up on the back of your neck, this is going to be that fight.? UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre showed up with the same mentality, and they both delivered. The…

The past 11 months haven't been great for former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres. In December, he was cut from the UFC for making a tasteless joke on Twitter. He was brought back for an April bout with Michael McDonald, and was knocked out in the first round. He was then cut from the UFC again.
Now, he has landed with the World Series of Fighting, the new promotion that will debut on NBC Sports Network this Saturday.
He talks about how he's still in the process of refining his game, going from the crazy and wild fighter WEC fans knew to the controlled, planning fighter he is working to be now. He also says he doesn't see Saturday's bout against Marlon Moraes as a comeback, but a homecoming. When Torres was with the WEC, he fought on Versus, the channel that was turned into NBC Sports.
Though he may say it's not a comeback, this is the kind of opportunity that can help Torres get his career back on track. He's on television again and fighting away from the UFC or WEC for the first time since 2007. It's a shot to remind MMA fans of the kind of fighter he can be.
Will he do it? Speak up in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.
Remember how I told you the UFC on Fuel card involves getting up extra early on Saturday? The good news is that Fuel TV wants to reward you for getting up so early when you could be sleeping in or doing something productive with your life.
They are running a giveaway for you and a friend to get the VIP treatment for UFC 155 in Las Vegas. Here is how to enter, from the press release:
To enter the sweepstakes, viewers must wake up, tune into and watch UFC ON FUEL TV 6: FRANKLIN VS. LE on Saturday, November 10 and tweet their favorite fight moments using the hashtag #RudeAwakening. They may also enter online by visiting www.fuel.tv/rudeawakening.com and submitting an entry.
Viewers can start tweeting or submitting online entries when the action kicks off with the UFC Prefight Show on FUEL TV at 8:00 AM ET, continuing through the main card, and finishing with the Postfight Show on FUEL TV, ending at 1:00 PM ET. The more viewers tweet with the hashtag #RudeAwakening or enter online during the live coverage, the greater their chances of winning.
So there you go, Cagereaders. I won't be joining in with your #RudeAwakening tweeting on Saturday as I'll be at a MMA judging seminar in Iowa. However, let's hope a Cagereader wins the VIP trip to Vegas, because Cagereaders are awesome.
And if you want more incentive to enter, check out videos Chael Sonnen and Arianny Celeste did to promote the contest.
