Vitali Klitschko retains WBC title due to doctor?s stoppage

41-year old heavyweight icon Vitali Klitschko continued to show he hasn?t skipped a beat after picking up his ninth straight win since taking a four-year break from boxing. The success came in a bout against Manuel Charr after Klitschko opened up a cut over his German adversary?s eye that continued to bleed profusely to the point the ringside physician stepped in to wave the fight off.

The victory improved Klitschko?s overall record to 45-2 and was his 41st win by way of TKO. He is 18-1 in his last nineteen fights including success in his previous thirteen tilts.

Klitschko: “40 Isn’t Too Old…”

After the match-up Charr asked Klitschko for a rematch in hopes the two could settle the score without a cut ending things. However, Klitschko apparently wasn?t interested in the possibility.

”I understand your big desire to face [me] again, but you know that so many boxers would like do it and if we meet so often we won’t give a chance for the others,” said Klitschko to the Associated Press.

Klitschko also added that he wasn’t sure what was next for him, though he acknowledged he likely wouldn’t be fighting for too much longer given his age and responsibilities to a Ukranian political party.
