Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson was supposed to face UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones at the doomed UFC 151 fight card but had to bow out due to injury. Henderson had hoped to get his title shot when he returned from his injury. With the news yesterday that former teammate Chael Sonnen would not only get a TUF coaching gig but a light heavyweight title shot as well, the MMA legend took to twitter to respond to the news.

One of the numerous fighters affected by Strikeforce?s recent decision to cancel a November 3 event was Tim Kennedy, an accomplished middleweight with wins over a number of respectable adversaries and status as one of the company?s fan-favorites. Kennedy, who also happens to be a Special Forces veteran, has never been afraid to speak his mind and immediately went online to express his disappointment in the decision to postpone his expected payday.
While nothing has been confirmed, Kennedy has at least been given the indication the company may still compensate the affected fighters for their trouble, providing a slim silver-lining around the dark cloud hovering over the since-scrapped show.
“I was really mad at that point,? said Kennedy of his reaction to the disappointing news in an interview with MMAJunkie. ?But moments later, (matchmaker) Sean Shelby called me from Brazil, and he was super cool. He’s like, ‘There’s nothing we can do. We found out online just like you did that Showtime wasn’t going to be televising the event, and if the fight’s not televised, Strikeforce isn’t going to have a card.’”
“I was like, ‘That’s great Sean, but you get paid a salary and I get paid to fight. Zuffa doesn’t cut me a monthly check and pay for my insurance unless I tear my foot off,?? continued Kennedy, adding he was then told Strikeforce would make up for it though not offered any specifics about what that meant.
“If they’re going to take care of us, which I think is the right thing to do, I’m going to be totally grateful. I think it’s a demonstration that sometimes they do have their heart in the right place,? explained Kennedy, though the middleweight remained a bit skeptical as to whether Strikeforce would indeed come through, admitting he ?wouldn’t cry a river? if they didn?t.
Kennedy Upset with Lack of Promotional Push
Instead of worrying too much about factors out of his control, Kennedy has instead decided to focus his energy on honing his craft in preparation for a fight in January when Strikeforce is expected to put on a show featuring a ?stacked? lineup.

TweetAnderson Silva?s spectacular stoppage of Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153 confirmed once again that ?The Spider? is the best fighter on the organization?s roster, netting him a sixteenth straight victory inside the Octagon including fourteen finishes. Regardless of his success, at least one of Silva?s peers feels the pound-for-pound great is not all he?s cracked up to be ? Chris Weidman.
Weidman was labeled as the middleweight division?s top contender after scoring a strike-based stoppage against Mark Munoz earlier this year. However, Silva?s camp came forward to state the unbeaten 28-year old needed to do more before earning the right to compete for the championship. In Weidman?s opinion, that decision was akin to Silva admitting he was afraid to face him no matter how brilliant the Brazilian may look in other match-ups.
“I took a lot of risks to get where I am this short into my career. It’s not like I just got here magically. I beat some good guys. I put myself in short-notice fights against top guys in the world. It’s not easy, and I was hoping it would pay off and get my shot against Anderson, but he’s ducking me,? explained Weidman in an interview with MMAJunkie. ?I know I can beat Anderson. I got into this sport, and he was the champion at 185 pounds. He looked just as impressive then as he does now. I got into this sport knowing I could beat him from day one. I think I’m a terrible, terrible matchup for him. I think everybody knows it.?
Weidman “Shocked, Confused” and “Disappointed” by Silva’s Decision to Fight Bonnar
The 9-0 Weidman will attempt to cement his status as the #1 challenge to Silva?s belt in late December when he faces Tim Boetsch at UFC 155. Weidman is an accomplished wrestler with impressive BJJ to boot, making for an intriguing prospect as far as the type of test he?d provide for Silva considering the middleweight champion?s past problems with opponents possessing similar skill sets.

By now, you've likely seen the Korean pop video by Psy, "Oppa Gangnam Style." If you haven't, click here, enjoy, and enjoy having it in your head the rest of the day. The catchy tune caught the ear of injured UFC light heavyweight Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, and he showed the dance to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour on Monday. Skip to 1:15 to check out Jackson's moves.
Jackson had communicated with Psy via Twitter, telling him he's working on the dance that has become a viral sensation. He also said he was practicing the dance by himself when a teammate walked in. Awkward!

After waiting way too long for fights, UFC 152 delivered with mostly exciting bouts. There's no need to discuss Matt Hamill's bout with Roger Hollett. Instead, let's talk about the fighters who truly stood out on Saturday night in Toronto. Here are Cagewriter's three stars. Tell us yours in the comments, on Facebook or Twitter.
No. 1 star -- Jon Jones: The light heavyweight champion has barely faced adversity in fights, but Vitor Belfort gave it to him with an early armbar attempt. Jones got out of the submission, and then beat up Belfort for four rounds until an Americana submission ended the fight in the fourth round.
No. 2 star -- Cub Swanson: His knockout of Charles Oliveira was one of the weirder knockouts in recent memory. Oliveira was hurt by a body shot. Swanson then hit Oliveira with a left in the head, and Oliveira stood there for a second before falling to the ground. Slow motion knockouts are just as effective, and Swanson is now 3-0 in 2012. Every win was by knockout.
No. 3 star -- Vinny Magalhaes: It's been three years since Magalhaes was in the UFC. He reminded fans of his grappling prowess with a perfectly executed armbar of Igor Pokrajac. It was the exact move you would expect out of a jiu-jitsu world champ.
